MyComicZine

The production of MYComiczine, which is a combination of comics and magazines - is a first of its kind in the world. The contents of MYComiczine is written in a laid-back, relaxed style, giving an opportunity to teenagers to write and speak their mind with truthfulness – sharing the positive experiences of life, the negative things that happened to them, rules and regulations that makes them feel restricted, how and why the rules are not obeyed, favourite hobbies of teenagers, and their ambitions in life.

All of these are explained in comics or stories in MYComiczine, so that it can be shared with everyone, the positive things becoming morals to learn from, and the negative will teach about the boundaries that should not be stepped over! This MYComiczine helps reduce and prevents crime and anti-social behaviour of the youth, through media that can change their way of thinking and living.

On top of that our MYComiczine is also presented in online version (www.mycomiczine.com) so as to attract wider audiences. Series of workshops are conducted from time to time to train teenagers as writers and illustrators or cartoonists. These sessions are held at secondary schools as well as at rehabilitation centres and juvenile prisons. The core values of Islam form the basis of all these workshops. Our main aim here is to create a wide pool of youth who are well versed with modern-day tools of communication and at the same time in touch with their religion and culture.

MYComiczine is currently written in two languages: English and Malay. This will provide a broader market exposure as well as increase the usage of English among teenagers, especially those living outside the major cities in Malaysia. At the same time we are exploring the export market, and we are pleased to note that so far there have been several foreign parties who are showing keen interest in the magazine and its concepts.
